Workshop on Quantum matter | posters |
| Sunday 17th | Nanoscience; the ULT frontier | Informal workshop on Nanoscience at ULT | ||
Conference Topics will include:
- Quantum fluids and solids
- Quantum matter under extreme conditions (pressure, temperature, magnetic field, size)
- Quantum phase transitions and quantum criticality
- Helium as a model system (superfluid 3He and disorder, helium and cosmology, strong correlations, quantum magnetism)
- Supersolids
- Glasses
- Nuclear magnetism
- Quantum turbulence
- Nanostructures and nanomechanical systems at low temperatures
- New cooling technologies (cryogen free, cryocoolers, on-chip refrigeration)
- Combining ULT with other technologies (uhv, scanning probes, neutron scattering, synchrotron x-ray scattering, microwaves)
The emphasis will be on workshops and discussion (with discussion leaders), underpinned by authoritative overviews by leaders in the field. The engagement of experimentalists working at the cutting edge, and theorists with a broad perspective will be a key to success.
Workshops:
- Cosmology in the laboratory with liquid helium.
- Quantum matter at ULT:Quantum phase transitions, quantum criticality, unconventional superconductivity/superfluidity and the low temperature frontier.
- Impact of the cryogen free revolution and new cooling technologies.
- Nanoscience at low mK temperatures.
- Nanomechanical systems at low temperatures.
- Quantum turbulence.
- Supersolids.

Poster sessions:
Thursday and Saturdays poster sessions will be held after dinner in the lower Hub, situated next to the dinning facilities and accommodation. Posters will be available for viewing for the duration of the conference. During the official poster sessions drinks will be served in the lower Hub.
If you have not already submitted a poster, may we encourage you to bring your poster from LT25 (or other poster you judge suitable) in order to facilitate such discussion.
Let us take the opportunity to clarify the point that we can accommodate both landscape and portrait style posters. The boards are portrait 1830mm high x 940 mm wide, but for LT style landscape posters we will use three adjacent boards to display two posters.
For convenience, all the workshops will have space for displaying related posters in an room adjacent to the main workshop venue (in Windsor Building) on the day of the workshop.
Velcro tape will be supplied to attach posters to the boards.
